Can't copy files to Unraid anymore

Featured Replies

Hey guys, this is very frustrating.  I have about 150 HD/SD movies on my Unraid server, which i obviously copied to it with no problem so i know my hardware works.  Now everytime i go to copy something to it, the file transfer gets partway through and says "There is a problem accessing C:\movies\rudolph.mpg (or whatever the file name is) make sure you are connected to the network and please try again".    I tried writing to different drives on my unRaid and using different drives on my home computer.  I am running Vista (and always have been) and have GigE.  Im not 100% sure but it seems to have happened when i switched to Vista32 from Vista64.  I have no clue what to do and now my server is pretty much useless.  I tried downgrading to 4.0 from 4.21, still nothing changed.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

a little more info..  i ghosted my home computer back to Vista 64 and the problem seems to be gone.  any ideas?  im just happy that i can now transfer stuff to the unraid but i would really like to get it going with Vista 32 because i have other Vista 64 issues which is why i went back to the 32 bit version.

I found your error message online, and this patch seems relevant:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932045.

It mentions copies between 2 different Vista machines, but I found others having this problem from a Vista machine to a shared folder on an XP machine or a Samba-based resource.

Hoping this may help...

a little update.   while i had Vista64 on, a friend came over with Vista SP1 which is due out on Dec 10th.  I installed the service pack and now my transfers have increased in speed.  Average 25 megabytes per second reading from the Unraid and about 15 megabytes per second writing to the array.   I might just keep 64 on until the service pack is released then i will switch back to Vista 32 and see if it fixes the problem.  I also got the file that Rob pointed out so i will try that first. If I can't get it working,  i might be asking for more advice ;)

hey, went back to Vista 32 and tried the fix first posted and it didn't work.  I know that the network/server/unraid is working, it is something on my Vista 32 install that isn't working compared to my Vista 64 install.  I did nothing different installing Vista 64 as compared to Vista 32.  Any other ideas?  Hoping SP1 will fix the issue, if not, im not sure what to do.

Running beta software always leads to trouble.  Unfortunately for you, Microsoft fooled you (and lots of others) into thinking it was release quality.

Bill,

i agree about the beta software.  I was just fooling around at that point since it works on my Vista 64 install.  I still can't get it to work on my regular Vista 32bit install before SP1, just how i had it a couple days ago.  Any other ideas or anyone having the same problem?
