(SOLVED) Cache drive is read-only

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I hope that one of you can help confirm suspicion.

My cache drive is all of a sudden read only. I tried to reboot the server and it worked for an hour or so and is now back to read only.

I suspect that the cache drive is about to die. Is it possible to confirm from the diagnositcs report?

Best regards Gomilo

Merry Christmas

SMART Extended Self-test Log Version: 1 (1 sectors)
Num Test_Description Status Remaining LifeTime(hours) LBA_of_first_error
# 1 Short offline Completed: read failure 50% 29399 2368412

SMART test is failing, so yes, device needs to be replaced.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion @JorgeB

I have now ordered an upgrade to my cache - HDD -> NVMe

Great excuse for an upgrade even though it's annoying to have a failing harddrive 😃
