December 14, 200718 yr I have downloaded the shareware version for evaluation, if I get it working I will immediately buy the full version. I currently have 10 sata drives (some 320gigs and some 500gigs). But for now I am just testing with 3 sata drives, per the limitations of the shareware version. My motherboard is an Asus M2N-SLI Delux. It has 6 (or onboard SATA ports, three of which are currently in use. I created the Flash drive per the directions on the site. It boots just fine and I get a prompt to login. If I type root and press enter it lets me in (though this was NOT in any documentation). The problem I am having is that once booted, it has NO network connectivity. I read through some posts, and decided to go out and buy a $60 PCI Intel Pro1000 NIC card, thinking that maybe the NVIDIA NIC cards imbedded on the motherboard were not supported. I get the same exact thing with the new Intel NIC as I did with the onboard one. Watching the boot screen, I can see where it cannot find the /boot/config/network.conf file. fumbeling around I discovered that there is NO subdirectory "config" under the directory "boot". I suspect this is my problem. Are there steps I missed? I followed the steps on the web site but they are quite brief and I think maybe incomplete. Are there better directions somewhere? A note sent to tech support resulted in no help, or response. Unraid LOOKS really cool but if it doesnt work, then I will be forced to use Windows Home Server (they have some advanced software RAID tools, similar to UNRAID). ANY IDEAS???
December 14, 200718 yr I assume you have connected the unraid server to a network cable, which is connected to a router, which is connected to another PC and you have tried to write telnet tower in the start/run window (assuming you use Winxp and not Vista, in which case make sure telnet is installed)? Am I right?
December 14, 200718 yr Author HI all... Never mind. Apparently if you follow ALL the setup directions it works just fine. I missed the part where I had to lable the usb volume. After I did that it worked GREAT.
