BazzUK
Hi, currently running UNRAID OS Pro Version: 6.10.0-rc2 on a HP Gen8 Microserver and though working fine, I need to migrate to hardware which will allow me to add more storage I have read that this is easy enough, stopping VM's and Dock for autostart etc. Is it really easy to move the USB driver with UNRAID on it to another machine? It's going to be installed into a PC case, with a Gigabyte motherboard, Intel i3 CPU and more memory This will allow me to expand the storage from it's current 4 drives (1x parity and 3x storage along with a SSD cache) to 8x drives and a SSD cache Advice or suggestions welcome Thanks in advance Edited March 12, 2022 by BazzUK Solved Quote Link to comment
Solution ChatNoir Posted March 11, 2022 Solution Share Posted March 11, 2022 Sorry that no one answered you. Didn't had much time myself when I first saw your message. But there are things to consider to be sure that it goes smoothly, you should : disable array auto start disable dockers autostart and also disable the docker service in settings disable VMs autostart and disable the VM service in settings have a backup of your flashdrive know your drives allocation, just in case (screenshot of Main page is a quick and easy way) With all those precautions, you can make the transition and check that everything is OK for each step : are all drives recognized ? If so, start the Array start the docker service then start each docker individually to see if it is OK start the VM service adjust for any HW change in a VM, start and check if it is OK. if anything seems off, come back here with your diagnostics. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
BazzUK
ChatNoir, thanks for the response, looks fairly simple Only have 1 docker and 1 VM currently, so shouldn't be a problem as such I'd like to keep the data intact of course, but it is all backup in case of failure I was only worried about losing the UNRAID config which I'd need to reinstall etc. Quote Link to comment

BazzUK
Update... Change from the HP Gen8 to the new hardware as described above, all working fine (though I had a slight hiccup as I had CPU pinning for a VM, once changed the VM worked) Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
