Disk offline be emulated

I'm new to unraid so am only now starting my journey

1 X 4TB HDD parity

4 X 4TB HDD

1 X 3TB HDD

This is a completely new build at the moment there is no data on the array

After adding my disks and selecting a parity disk I started the array

After 6hrs the array was built.

I'm now seeing a disk marked with an X and offline being emulated

Does this mean my disk is bad?

How does one recover from this error?

It means a write to it failed, which could be cables, controller, or disk.

Recovery is typically by replacing the disk and letting the array rebuild it, but without the diagnostics file, preferably downloaded before rebooting after the error occurred, it's impossible to recommend the correct course of action. It could be as simple as reseating the cables and trying again, or there could be other things in play.

Hey thanks for your speedy reply

Do you see anything funky in the smart logs?

Tools, diagnostics, download the zip file and attach it to your next post, like it describes in the link automatically generated when the text diagnostics is detected in a post.
