May 14, 201115 yr Woke up this morning, wander down and there is my pride and joy... OFF. WHAT? UPS is all charged up, no alerts, everything else is on. My running TAIL command has that it sent me my normal email notification at 11:47 and nothing after... All hardware is as per my Sig. Pull the server out, try quick plug into another power outlet, no juice. Take the side off, check things out, everything seated properly, all looks good. OK, MAYBE a dead PSU? But this is a Corsair AX750, only a month old... dang. So I grab my trusty Antec 650, just plug in mains and aux and bang, unit powers up. Pull it out. Get a bit more cable loose from the AX - maybe a tight cable was pulling. Plug the main and aux from the Corsair back in, powers up. Weird. Unit is now powered up, replayed transactions, all disks fine and doing a parity check. Anyone see something similar to this? I am "thinking" it is most likely the PSU, but, running perfectly now. Thanks! Shawn
May 15, 201115 yr Did you rum memtest when you first build the server? I would suspect the PSU as well, but RAM is always an easy place to start troubleshooting. Run memtest for at least 12 hours if you haven't already.
May 15, 201115 yr Author Yes, already did that trouble shooting the original problem I had with this server, which turned out to be the issue with the Realtek 8111E chipset. Been a day now and no other issues. Maybe a one off.... If it happens again I will simply unplug PSU for a period of time and then try again, as that seemed to "fix" it last time. Wonder if something inside got overloaded? Shawn
