June 7, 20224 yr I've had nothing but problems to boot up Unraid. By now I have disabled anything on that system. no drives no controllers only one stick of 16 GB ram but still nothing. i haven't been able to generate any logs as the system doestn't startup. the first boot after flashing a new drive game me this and cycled after a couple of seconds and the second time this. by now i've tried to disabled and disconect all controllers and devices unnecessary and have tried all 4 different versions from the usb creator on different flashdrives. i could try the ram from my main system and a GTX1080 but i doubt that will make any difference The system Asus Z170 Premium Intel i7 6700K 1x 16GB Gorsair Dominator platinum (CMD32GX4M2B3000C15) XFX RX580 Unraid 6.10.2 Thank you ❤️
June 7, 20224 yr Author Yes. I've use this drive for Windows installations befor and for acronis backup just last weekend. It boots fine into the boot menu and already tried a memtest with the same drive
June 7, 20224 yr Community Expert Booting UEFI or legacy? Have you tried the manual method to prepare flash? https://wiki.unraid.net/Articles/Getting_Started#Manual_Install_Method
June 7, 20224 yr Author i've tried both now on the manual method. on legacy it did change what came up a bit. the drive itself is fine. i'm able to boot into unRaid on 2 other machines. I feel like i'm missing something simple but i'm not able to see what's flashing over the screen. Now i'm trying to go back to an older bios, see if that changes anything and maybe reseating the CPU will do anything but i've had windows running on this machine for years without problems and i'm able to just boot it up if i connect that drive.
June 7, 20224 yr I read somewhere that there is a folder on the flash drive that has a "-" after the name of it, and what some people have done is that they have removed the "-" and it's solved their issue of trying to get unRAID to boot up. Maybe this will solve your issue too. I'm only very new to unRAID myself so I may be totally off, but you have nothing to lose by trying it.
June 7, 20224 yr Author That's to get unraid to use UEFI instead of legacy boot. i've tried that but with no different result. i don't have any problems getting into the bootloader and it doesnt make much difference if i chose savemode or GUI
