January 6, 200818 yr Hi all, I've been running unRAID for about 2 months flawlessly, but I've run into a problem today. My wired PC cannot see my drives anymore. I have each drive mapped in 'My Computer.' I am able to access the drives using my laptop over wireless. I don't see any errors in the server log and everything else seems fine. When i try to access the mapped drive, i get a windows message box 'An error occurred while reconnecting W: ...' If i disconnect the mapped drive and try to reconnect, it asks for a user name and password to connect the drive. I don't use user names for access so im not sure where that is coming from. Thanks in advance. Dan
January 7, 200818 yr Instead of mapping drives have you tried using UNC to access it? ala \\servername\drive ? Or \\ipaddress\drive ? IP will rely on WINS or DNS, I set my Hosts file to force this to always work as WINS is not always 100% for some reason. I occasionally get the ID/PWD prompt, I ignore it and click okay What O/S is on the PC - is it Vista? SAMBA still coming up to speed with that I think, they tweaked things with the new O/S of course.

All my machines are WinXP SP2. I've tried server name and IP to access the drives. I know it's something with the machine since my VMware WinXP instance on the non connecting machine CAN connect to unRAID. So i basically have to have VMware running in the background to watch movies and access files... kind of a hassle. Do you know if cleaning the registry with some software could have messed things up? I really don't want to reinstall XP .
January 7, 200818 yr Did you change the workgroup name to something different? Or a different subnet? Joe L.
January 7, 200818 yr Author Did you change the workgroup name to something different? Or a different subnet? Joe L. I checked that too... no dice. It's so weird because I was looking through some old files, then about 30 mins later the drives were disconnected and i could not reconnect. So I restarted my computer and the unRAID sever with no luck while all my other PCs were fine. Dan
