May 23, 201115 yr I have searched the forum and found a similar post about the cache drive creating shares that could not be deleted, Possibly Queeg's post. I am running 4.7 pro with a cache drive, I can stop the array, then go to the share erase the share name, then hit apply, it thinks for a bit then refreshes the page and i scroll down and the share is still there. I have moved the folder and it's contents to another drive and renamed it now that new folder and is being shared....... What am I doing wrong? AJ
May 23, 201115 yr Author Here is the queeg post showing the same issue I have...... http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12793.0 Tom or Joe L Any ideas?
May 24, 201115 yr Are you running any add-ons? If an add-on (or possibly a program on another computer) is constantly looking for that folder to be on the cache drive, it could be re-creating it every time you delete it. By the way, you shouldn't have to stop the array to delete shares. In fact, I think the array has to be started to do any share creation or deletion via the unRAID web interface.
May 24, 201115 yr Author The only addon to Unraid I am using is Unmenu and the shutdown script, Now I do have other computers and or media players (dune etc) that could be somewhat mapped to the cache drive.. Hmm as a test - I can dissconect all items on the network and retry... Thanks I will post back... AJ
May 24, 201115 yr Try deleting the share directory on all the disks and the corresponding share config file on the flash in \flash\config\shares The new directory you created - every top level directory is a user share, so when you created that directory you got a new user share to match. Peter
May 25, 201115 yr Hi While I am very new to UnRaid I feel quite answer this request as I am the owner of the machine in Queegs original mail. The problem was around a share that could not be deleted and reappeared disrupted the file struture in to the process. Firstly, all the processes were tried including, re-intall UnRaid, remove cache drive, formating disks, deleting cfg files from the flash, still the problem was there. I finally made progress when I deleted every temp file, the swap file, and all unecessary files off the Windows 7 machine Serv Pack1. Only then was I able to delete the share from the server. To date everything is running fine with no re appearance of the offending share. Hope this helps you. TopTrainer
May 27, 201115 yr Author Simple fix for me, Noticed that the folders I moved from the Cache drive to on the other disk were at top level, So if you have a disk with no folders or even shares and you add a top level folder to that disk it will become a share, Now granted the share will not show up in the config on your thumbdrive. but will be visible on your network - It will also be configured in the share settings on share tab on TOWER page. All I did was CUT the folder to another drive that actual had an assigned share, Then go into the shares on TOWER and backspace out the share and hit apply, Once the page refreshed the share was gone. If I have confused anyone - maybe one of the better experts can jump right in.... Thanks AJ
