another issue i ran into in my continual quest to upgrade my smaller drives to 500GB.

 

Disk 2 is a 300Gb drive and is on hdc

 

Disk 3 is a 320Gb drive and is on hdd

 

they are sharing the mobo's secondary ide channel.

 

When i replace Disk2 with a larger disk, and restart the server:

 

Disk 2 is different (which is good)

 

Disk 3 is missing (but its there!)

 

This happens when i switch also - (ie replacing disk 3 with larger disk)

 

I have a feeling that it has something to do with the IDE channel they are on, but was wondering if anyone else came across this?

I would double check the jumpers on the new drives.

 

That did the trick

 

Apparently, 2 years ago i had set 2 and 3 up for master/slave instead of cable select.

 

Doh.
