August 23, 20223 yr Planning ahead my unraid server. I am curious if it is possible to install a Plex media server and a VM windows for gaming. I am planning to buy a dedicated graphic card for the setup. Can I use the graphic card for both.

Once any HW element is passed through a VM, it is not available for the host (dockers in your case) or another VM. But a Plex server docker does not require access to a graphic card to work. It can however ease some load from the CPU. You could also have Plex use the iGPU from your CPU (if applicable).
August 23, 20223 yr Author Thank you. I have bought a i5 12400. How much cores of the 6 available cores should I reserve for the windows VM and how much from the cores should I reserve for the unraid. Purpose of unraid is storage, Plex, maybe cloud. VM is for gaming from time to time.
