unraid not seeing physical drives on new server

Featured Replies

Hello!

I recently got myself a Dell Poweredge T420 and moved my drives and unraid to that one.
Everything works just fine with booting etc but not of my physical drives are beeing seen, they are detected on the controller and in bios but for some reason unraid seem to not see them.

Server specs:
Dell Perc H710 raid controller
196GB DDR3 ECC ram
2x Intel Xeon E5-2407 2.2 GHz 4 cores
and 8 Drives mix with sas/sata that totals up towards around 17tb
i can see on the unraid web gui that its correct ram, cpu's and gpu but no drives.
in the sys logs i see that it does load the controller so it should see them, i do not have any raid configurations on the controller.

Heres my diagnostics, i'd really appricated if you could have a look and see if you see any errors i've missed, thanks for the help in advance :D

raid controller

This is the problem, especially with existing disks, you can add them as single volumes but might lose the data there, you should use a true HBA.

I hanged my raid controller to an extra HBA i had laying around and now it works just fine, thanks :D

A bit late to the party but you can always flash your Dell Perc cards into IT mode to use it like a True HBA, this link has some pretty decent instructions https://fohdeesha.com/docs/perc.html
