Erka53
Dear Community, After using my unraid build for some years i decided to upgrade the drives today. I started the installation from scratch, i had nothing from the old build that i had to take over to the new one. After installing more ram and the new drives i started the unraid installation without any problems. The setup at the moment is: 1900X 64gb ram 1 x 8 tb WD red pro for parity 2 x 4tb WD red pro in the array 1 x 2tb wd red pro in the array 1 x 1tb samsung 870 evo SSD ( unassinged for win10 vm ) Asus RTX2060 6gb The weird thing i noticed is that when the first disk was in the array it had a +- 30-40gb data utilization When i added the second disk this grew by a factor 2 Then the third disk ( the 2tb one ) i had half of the above added. So right now i have a new unraid install with 4 dockers: Binhex-nzbget Binhex-radarr Binhex-sonarr Portainer CI ( trying to get a visaul view of what is going on ) Plugins: CA CA Cleanup appdata CA mover tuning Dynamix system info GPU stats My servers Nvidia driver UD UD + As far as i remember i have not seen this behavior before, am i missing something or is this standard? 92.9GB used of 10TB, without me doing anything. Thanks in advance, Erwin Edited October 25, 2022 by Erka53 Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted October 25, 2022 Solution Share Posted October 25, 2022 The moment you format a drive to create an empty file system you are going to get some space used to hold the file system structures. Around 1% of the drive size is not atypical and I suspect this is what you are seeing. Quote Link to comment
