Never thought I would really care, but lately I've been dolling up the server.  The original build started in a different case around 17 years ago, but the server has resided in this Xigmatek Elysium for ~13 years.  Hardware changes all the time it seems.  My current hardware is below but is usually up to date in my signature. I just added my 3D printed 80mm HBA card fan bracket.

Server Hardware:  SuperMicro X11SCZ-F • Intel Xeon E-2288G • Micron 128GB ECC • Mellanox MCX311A • Seasonic SSR-1000TR 80+ Titanium • APC BR1350MS • Xigmatek Elysium • 4x Norco SS-500's Hard Drive PODs • 12x Noctura Fans • Noctura NH-U12S CPU Cooler.

Array Hardware: LSI 9305-24i • 238TB Dual Parity on WD Helium RED's • 19x 14TB • Cache: 1x 14TB • Pool1: 2x Samsung 1TB 850 PROs RAID1 • Pool2: 2x Samsung 4TB 860 EVOs RAID0.

Dedicated VM Hardware: Samsung 970 PRO 1TB NVMe • Inno3D Nvidia GTX 1650 Single Slot.

Forgot to add that I custom built all the power cables for all the hard drives and bays.  I use 16 AWG pure copper primary wire.  It's fun to keep all the black wires in the correct order and not fry anything, but I proved it doable 🙂.  Having a modular power supply is nice.  I was able to split 10x "spinners" per power cable in order to stay within the amperage limits of the modular power connectors and maintain wire runs without significant voltage drop.

Here are some pics...

NEW: My own Fusion 3D drawn and printed fan bracket: More in the following posts...

10GB fiber 3 meter DAC cable goes from the Mellanox MCX311A to a Brocade ICX7450-32ZP switch.  I used to use fiber, but in my new house my office is right next to the equipment rack so now I can get away with a DAC cable. That feeds media to the house and branches off everything.  10GB comes into the 7450-32ZP switch from my modem and I typically get around 3GB (+/-0.50GB) from my ISP.  It's a main line directly to my server from which I run VM's and use as my primary workstation.  Soon 40GB will run between switches in the equipment room and the upper level of the house.

I really love unRAID and how easy virtualization is.

The SATA power wires I braided for fun.  First time I ever did a four-wire braid.

Nice rig man! Really neat and tidy with tons of airflow 👍

Thanks man.  I've got the 200mm Noctua NF-A20 PWM chromax.black.swap in the side as well blowing air in.  I held out for two years waiting for Noctua to release a grey Redux version, but finally gave in several weeks back when my existing fan started failing.

I also can't believe I spent over $30 on red rubber bits, but I'm in the mood to bring joy to myself through consumerism 🤑

I have been looking for a Brocade ICX7450-32ZP switch for the right price seemingly FOREVER) like at least 4-5 years) and I finally scored one!  That gave me 8x 2.5GB PoE ports!  They are now powering three Ruckus R750 WiFi AP's using PoE on their 2.5GB inputs.  Sweet AP's I must say!  5500 square foot house and back yard patio over the dethatched garage with very strong signal strength everywhere and in the city with tons of interference.  Ruckus/Brocade deal incredibly will with loads of interference.  I hear the R650's are nearly as good; highly recommended!

I finally upgraded the last five 8TB hard drives to 14TB hard drives.  220TB storage space with dual parity.  I'm looking forward to much faster parity checks because slowing down for three different hard drive sizes was rough, and the 8TB drives were much slower than the 14TB drives.  Got the five WHITE 14TB drives used from a miner with three years on them for $75 each.  Cheap enough because when I can get 20TB drives for $150 or less (couple years?), I plan to remove five drives from the array and swap the rest all out to the same capacity.

I just drew and 3D printed a bracket to hold an 80mm fan under my HBA card. I didn't like how hot it was to the touch, so now it's cool. I first thought I'd just drill a few holes in the case to mount the bracket. But I did some discovery and realized I could make the bracket to screw into existing holes in the chassis for a size "H" mother board.
