July 14, 201114 yr Hello, As the title suggests, this is just a quick question but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. A search just turned up loads of threads about cache drives, which is not what I was looking for. Basically, I'm planning to have a full Slackware install with unraid installed on top of it but I don't want to dedicate a whole 2tb drive to that, so I was wondering if I could make a smaller partition for Slackware/Unraid (about 50gb) and use the rest of the drive as part of the unraid array along with another two 2tb hdds. So my setup would look like this: sda sda1 (Slackware/Unraid) (50GB) sda2 (Array disk 1) (1.95TB) sdb sdb1 (Array disk 2) (2TB) sdc sdc1 (Array disk 3) (2TB) Is this possible? Thanks.

Thanks. nope.. it uses the entire drive, with the exception of the cache drive. the cache drive can have multiple partitions, and unRAID will use the first partition for the cache drive. The remainder can be used as you like.
July 14, 201114 yr I believe I read this might be possible in the future when parity is calculated for the entire drive instead of by partition. (loose translation of my bad memory) The good news is the unRAID drive won't count against your license's quota of drives.
