Klowje
Hello everyone. I'm currently working on uploading my entire DVD library onto my unraid media server via Plex. I have hundreds if not over a thousand DVDs I've accumulated over the years. I'm ripping them all with WinXDVD and an 8X external DVD drive. A full length standard definition movie takes about 10 minutes to rip. My question is: would adding a cache pool speed up the process? Or would upgrading to a 16X drive yield the best results? Is the write speed of the HDDs even being bottlenecked by the read speeds of a DVD drive? If not, then I suppose this is all just a mute point anyway. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much. luzankia
Wikipedia say that an 8x drive go up to 11 MB/s (22 for a 16x) where a sata hdd go easily at 170 MB/s so take a second drive and rip 2 disk at a time and no cache ^^ Quote Link to comment
