Unraid spamming DNS requests

Featured Replies

Hey all, bit of an odd issue. Recently I changed my server's hostname in the configuration and edited the entries under /etc/hosts to reflect the new hostname. Ever since then, my server has spammed the former hostname and I'm unable to figure out where it's coming from:

syr-unraid

2892 requests in 24 hours

The name resolves (one attempt to fix) and I've double checked the /etc/hosts file without luck. Could there be another configuration change needed to fix this?

If you are talking about /etc/hosts on Unraid, no changes in /etc or any of the other OS folders will survive reboot.

The OS is unpacked fresh from archives on flash into RAM at each boot, and it runs completely in RAM. Think of it as firmware.

Only /boot (flash drive) and /mnt/... (mounted storage) survive reboot.

The spamming of DNS requests is happening even with the entry in /etc/hosts (just verified again it's still there). Could there be a docker using the hostname or something? I'm more curious than anything what's causing the requests.

I just confirmed the proper (new) hostname in /boot/config/ident.cfg as well.

It will be there until you reboot.
