Both Cache Drives Gone at the Same Time

Featured Replies

I'm kind of lost, any advice would be helpful. I don't think they both died at the exact same time (although possible), they are both enterprise class SSDs. It's not cabling because I put another random drive in the same place and it showed up fine. These are the log entries that are repeating over and over again.

Thanks!

Those errors usually mean duplicate devices, if you are using some kind of external enclosure make sure there's a single cable connected from the HBA to it then post new diags.

I'm not, everything is in an old Dell r720xd, I haven't added or removed any drives in a long time. But I did try a different drive in place of one of the cache drives, and it shows up as ready to be used. All the drives are on the same backbone and interspersed randomly.

Then the old cache drives are possibly gone, but that config is not optimal, if the backplane has a dual expander make sure you are using only one, Unraid doesn't support SAS multipath.

I see. So if this thing has a dual expander it was only a matter of time before the cache drives got messed up? All of my array drives are still totally fine.

I'm not saying the cache problem was because of the dual expander, but you should not use that if nothing else because it's spamming your logs.
