Question Regarding NCQ

Featured Replies

I've been trying to find some benchmarks (or some sound reasoning) demonstrating why it's beneficial to turn of NCQ in unRaid.  However, my google-fu was weak and I was unable to find anything conclusive.  The only thing I could find was the User Benchmarks Page, which if anything leans towards having NCQ enabled.

Thoughts?

I don't get it.  Why would disabling NCQ ever be beneficial?

My thoughts exactly.  Thought it appears that unRaid defaults to it being disabled.  Now if the link that mbryanr posted is correct, this should be a non-issue unless you're running a j-micron controller...

Well I enabled NCQ and I'll see if I run into any issue's.  I'm hoping not, as I suspect NCQ will help increase the array's performance (especially with small files).
