Looses Unraid GUI MB Bios gets whiped to default

Featured Replies

Hello All,
Well, we're running into a problem with one of my unraid servers. I have included the diagnostics report. Hoping that some of you could help me find a solution to my problem. My server can be turned on for hours to a few days and then all of a sudden it locks up no user interface. I go to look at the unit which has a keyboard and mouse connected to it and the keyboard has 3 blinking LEDs on the top indicating something wrong. It's a weird situation. I have a LSI 6Gbps SAS SATA P20 card and also a p400 video card for transcoding. It seems I have to unplug (not all of the time) the p400 to start the machine up and takes me to the BIOS not actually starting up unraid from the usb. I either load up one of my profiles or can tell the bios to start with the usb thumb drive and off it runs. I then have to power off the machine plug in my p400 in the machine boots up to unrade no problem.  I have tried installing a new p400. I have also tried swapping out the SATA drive card. Both of these units don't seem to be causing the problem or are they?, but then again hopefully this diagnostics zip file will tell what's going on.

When I try and do a shutdown using the power button after losing GUI because sometimes the keyboard is not blinking. It does try and go into a graceful shutdown. I have been known to leave it there for a few hours and I still come back and it still hasn't fully shut down. Any direction of good help Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you all for your time and reading this.

Added May 7, 2023   I did follow the drections for monitoring the system option 1 and no errors during that. I found the problem to be a fan going bad which was causing the motherboard bios issue and loss of the setting. I will call this error closed at this time and will report back if it ever comes back. Thank you all for reading an your support.

@JorgeBHello again,

I'm back unfortunatly and could use your help or anyone who might understand what I'm missing in my system log writen by the syslog server recommended to use. The server froze up agaib but this time the bios was intact but I found that the Unradi Flash was not reading the same description as usual in the bios and also would not load unraid. I  took out the usb flash drive and placed it into a win 10 machine which it wanted to fit it but at the time said no. I located I believe the system log you might be requesting and posted it here below. At this time the Unraid flash has not been placed into the server machine until I hear back to do so. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

syslog

Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, this usually points to a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Well it finally froze up again. I had to force shut off with hold of the power button. System booted up this time without whiping the bios and loaded Unraid. I selected Safemode without plugins and with GUI as I did back last post on the 14th.

syslog attached using method recommended for flash
