Unraid server randomly shutting down.

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am somewhat new to unraid, and am unfamiliar with it. I have been encountering a problem where basically the whole unraid server would become unresponsive anywhere ranging from 15 mins - 2 hours. The tower itself would still have power and be running, however, when I try to login to the unraid gui, the page itself is not responding. I know also that it is possible to upload a error doc, but I do not know how to figure out what could directly be the problem. If anyone is willing to help me in this matter, it is greatly appreciated.

Hello, thank you for helping me with this, cause this has been having for a long time, and then for a good while I just gave up on it, but now I need to use it again very soon, so I appreciate all the help and guidance you are giving on the matter. It took a while for me to get the syslog as it wouldn't even let me access the unraid gui for a while, but thankfully I had selected the setting where it saved to the usb boot drive, so after a while I was able to get to it.

Syslogs you posted are just after rebooting.

I am sorry, I am trying to get it but am a little unsure, because how the problem persists is that I can access the gui regularly, and then after a certain prolonged amount of time, trying to load the page gives me a error, however, the tower itself (which is next to me) is on, the fans are running and everything, yet it would not let me access the website to mess with the server itself. Is there a specific way to get the syslog? Because again, after that freeze occurs and I can't access the server anymore, I just shut it down and back on to access it again.

It is, unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, suggesting a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Ah I see :(, , thank you so much for your help. I tried launching it in safe mode and maintenance mode but even though it did last for a longer amount of time, it would still crash. I am currently trying a new power supply on it, and then if that still makes it crash, then that means I most likely need to switch the cpu as it is a pretty old one.
