Unable to add disks connected to LSI card to array/pools

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have a bit of a weird one. Recently purchased a 9206-16e, which arrived a little wonky. This card has 2x controllers on it, only one of which was up to date and set up. I flashed 20.00.07.00 to both controllers and verified that all drives are visible.

I ran a pre clear on all drives, most of which ran very slow (20MB/s) but a couple drives ran at  over 100MB/s. Immediately after trying to replace a disk in my array, the operation cancels.

What is a little odd, is under PCI devices all 12 disks connected via the card are listed under a single controller. Could this be contributing to my issues?

The drives are connected via an IBM v3700 Storewize expansion unit, which was just pulled from production.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me!

I should mention, I am able to use the unassigned devices plugin to view these drives and move a file around. I haven't tried any large file transfers yet but seems fine from the plugin.

Other half of the HBA is still on an older firmware, and a strange one at that, very weird firmware number, try updating again.

Hey nice find, that is very odd indeed. I'll give it a go and report back! Thanks.

@JorgeB sorry for the ping, I followed your guide (really well put together btw) but am still experiencing the same issues. Disks are visible, but all under the first controller. After adding a new disk connected via the 9206-16e (replacing an existing drive) it gets about 1gb through the rebuild before failing with read errors. Would love some input if you've experienced something like this!

I have attached un updated diagnostics. Thanks again!

Could be a controller problem, if you swap the disks between the controllers do the issues follow the disks or the controller?
