Mounting /mnt/user via NFS

Featured Replies

I have one user share for Videos that my 3 Xbmc pc's connect to and that works fine but, is it possible to mount the whole /mnt/user share directroy over NFS? mhddfs has me spoiled. I like having all my drives shown as one big one. I prefer this on my desktop.

I did a quick search before I posted and found a post about sharing it over samba but every pc in my house runs linux and I would like to NFS instead.

Im gonna bump this I hope thats alright.

There is no way to do this via the GUI. Why would you want to? Make a single share that contains all of the files that you need. A single share can span multiple drives.

Maybe I should explain better what I hope to achieve. Right now when I telnet into my unraid box and I do `ls /mnt/user/` it show everything on both drives under one folder. Now I have 2 shares one is /mnt/user/Video the other /mnt/user/Kids. The Video share is  my Xbmc pc's and the Kids share is for my kids stuff. I would like to have another share that would show EVERYTHING. I don't want to have to mount 3+ shares on my desktop. I would prefer to just mount /mnt/user and have access to everything. This is how I did it when I ran Ubuntu Server. I used mhddfs to combine both drives then used smb/nfs to export Video, Kids, and Master.

There are several ways of doing on the server using the CLI. But it would be mush easier to do on the PC. Create a new folder on the desktop. Drag the share icons into the new folder and shortcuts will be established. Then you have a single desktop folder containing all desired shares.
