July 13, 20232 yr Mover is running very slowly. It has moved less than a 100mb in 3 hours. Is there a safe way to stop the mover? Attached are diagnostics and a screen shot from system stats. Thank you blackhole-diagnostics-20230713-0814.zip Edited July 13, 20232 yr by elco1965
July 13, 20232 yr Community Expert You can type mover stop but maybe it's already stopped, enable mover logging then run it again and post new diags.
July 13, 20232 yr Author Mover was moving. There was a slight increase in usage on the cache drive. blackhole-diagnostics-20230713-0933.zip
July 13, 20232 yr Community Expert Solution It's moving, but it's moving appdata, that can be very slow due to many small files, it would be faster moving manually.
July 13, 20232 yr Author Thanks for looking. I will stop the money and use the file manager. I will report back
July 13, 20232 yr Author Thank you for the help JeorgeB. I used the file manager to move the appdata folder and now the mover is running at an acceptable transfer rate at ~ 175MB/s.
July 13, 20232 yr Community Expert Mover is not efficient when dealing with many small files, since it first checks if the file is in use, then moves it, then repeat for the next file.
