can i have different sized drives in an xfs cache pool ?

Featured Replies

i know you can't do that with zfs (my current cache pool is zfs). but can i mix sizes with xfs?

i currently have 1x500gb cache and want to add another 1tb to it. i don't really care about redundancy, there's not anything critical on the cache pool. i don't mind deleting the cache pool and recreating it if I add more drives in the future (which i'll probably do in a couple of months)

xfs is single pool only.

if I'm not mistaken, btrfs has a problem with excessive writes. has that been fixed or am i remembering things incorrectly

It can have depending on what it's used for, mainly because it's COW, same thing with zfs.

the drives are going to have heavy random read/write 24/7. is there any other options? or its either use 1 drive with xfs or have multiple different sizes but with btrfs.
