February 22, 200818 yr I am trying to get a unRaid server up and running, but I am having issues with the Kernel loading up. I received a preloaded Flash Drive with unRaid Server Pro. I configured the BOIS to boot from the USB drive. It loads the USB Driveand comes to the screen where it gives to option to Boot unRaid or do a memtest86. It then proceeds to start booting unRaid, but stops very early on and locks up when trying to perform this process: "ACPI: setting ELCR to 0200 (from 0c20)" The motherboard the system is using is an ASUS P4P800, and it has the latest BIOS (1019) without going into beta releases. The system is also using an PCI 3com Gigabit Ethernet card, and a AGP Video Card. I have changed all settings related to ACPI in different configurations (eg. All features turned on, All features turned off), with no change in the boot process. When this did not change anything, I disabled all non-essential onboard items (eg. onboard LAN, Sound, Parallel Ports, Serial Ports). When I did this and tried booting again, it locked up at the same spot but the process changed slightly: "ACPI: setting ELCR to 0200 (from 0c28)" I have also tested the Flash Drive on another system, a shuttle pc, it booted up fine and brought me to tower login. So from what I can tell it is not software related. I have done some research and it didnt turn up much, but the information I have found suggests it could be related to IRQs and device conflicts. I am running thin on ideas to try, if anyone has some info on what could be causing this, or have experience a similar problem, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share. It might also be important to share, that there are 8 IDE drives connected to the motherboard, 4 through the primary and secondary IDE connectors, and 4 through the primary and secondary IDE Raid connectors.
February 22, 200818 yr Check out this post: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1506.0 basically, edit the syslinux.cfg file on your flash drive In it is a line like this: append initrd=bzroot rootdelay=10 Add acpi=off to the end of it so it looks like this and see if it helps append initrd=bzroot rootdelay=10 acpi=off
February 22, 200818 yr Author That worked great! Thank you for your help and time, I really appreciate it.
April 19, 201412 yr So did this really resolve your issue, long term? Or did you find a hardware issue? What motherboard do you have? My system is hanging on boot now and the last line I see on the console is, ACPI: All ACPI Tables successfully acquired So I'm curious if might work on my rig. That said, I think I have a hw issue because my system has been good for years, built in 2009 and just recently started this hang crap on reboots.
