October 24, 20232 yr This may be an impossible ask, or it may be really simple and I'm just dumb (very true, btw). I'd like to serve my HDHR through Plex, which is hosted on my unraid server on my regular wired network. However, my HDHR is on a different subnet since my jimmy-rigged solution to connect it to the internet was put a google mesh wifi puck up next to it in the attic and use that as an access point. Is there any way to make this accessible to Plex? I haven't had luck trying to set up static routing, or bridging the google wifi pucks... can't do that and keep the mesh network and I'm trying to avoid a long, multiple stories, cable run. Someone else suggested setting up a VM, using a NIC to connect it to the same wifi network, and hosting plex on the VM may work. But is there a way to do it without moving my plex installation? If I sound like I don't know what I am talking about, it's because I don't. Thanks so much for any attempts at helping me find a solution.
October 24, 20232 yr First, why is it in the attic lol And to your question, you need to set up your router/firewall rules to bridge the subnets for whatever traffic you want between the two. The HDHR app likely won't work because the broadcast traffic wouldn't make it across, but Plex should be able to see it just fine as long as you have the correct forwarding in place in your rules
