November 7, 20232 yr I found: https://www.amazon.com/KingnovyPC-Motherboard-SATA3-0-Barebone-Appliance/dp/B0BYVMNMR9/?th=1 Intel Celeron N5105 , 64 bit, up to 2.6GHz, AES-NI hardware support 4xIntel i226-V 2.5G RJ45 LANs 2*NVMe, 6*SATA3.0, 2*DDR4, 1*PCIe4.0 2* USB 3.0, 2* USB 2.0,1* HDMI,1*DP I want to add 6 ports: Asmedia ASM1166 (PCIe 3.0 x4 physical, x2 electrical) should It work? Or M.2 (M Key) to 6xSATA Adapter in M.2 https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-SATA3-0-NO-Riad-Desktop-Support/dp/B0B5RJHYFD/?th=1 Is it good idea?
November 7, 20232 yr Both, I believe, use port multipliers, which are not recommended for Unraid. In most cases, anything that uses only 2 PCIe lanes will require a port multiplier for 6+ SATA devices.
November 14, 20232 yr Keep in mind that the M2 slot in this board is only connected via 3.0 x1 - so you'll top out at 1 GB/s. In any case I've read reports that people had troubles with either the m2 slot or PCIe card and a second ASM1166 controller (there's already a x1 connected ASM1166 for the SATA-Ports onboard). So if you're going that route make sure that you can return the cards without any troubles or repurpose them. I agree however that the ASM1166 is a good option - if you get it work (I have the same board - just havent gone that path down yet).
