Wrong Cache Pool State

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I need help.

I added a second SSD to my cache pool with the hopes of expanding it. After testing, it didnt expand it and I removed the second drive, and booted up my server again.

As expected, it didnt start the array as 1 drive was missing. I remove the drive from the cache pool and tried to start the array. Then I got an error that reads "Wrong Pool State" (see attached).

I shut down the server and added the second SSD again so that I can re-add it to the pool and get my server started up. Now even with both SSD it gives me the same error. Removing the SSD again gives me the same error. I can not start my array now.

How can I solve this issue?

If i start the array with no cache drive, stop it and add the cache drive again, will that wipe the drive?

If Docker/VM services are using the cache pool disable them, unassign all cache devices, start array to make Unraid "forget" current cache config, stop array, reassign all cache devices (there can't be an "All existing data on this device will be OVERWRITTEN when array is Started" warning for any cache device), re-enable Docker/VMs if needed, start array.

I should tick the "Start will remove the missing cache disk and then bring the array on-line." box right?

Also, If i add 2 cache drives, 1x 1TB and 1x 250GB, will that expand the cache to 1.25TB or not?

Not with zfs, only btrfs supports that.
