Two disable disks overnight - one data, one parity

Featured Replies

Suddenly this morning, my system told me there are two disable disks. I reviewed the two SMART logs and do not see any errors.

The system was recently (~2 months) transferred into a larger 24 bay case and these two hard drives are located on the same rail (top row left hard drives. I moved them to another row to see if that does anything.

Any idea on what my next steps should be? Thanks all.

Diags are after rebooting so we can't see what happened, two healthy disks getting disabled at the same time usually points to a power/connection issue, rebuild and if it happens again save the diags before rebooting.

Thanks for the heads up on the diags. It makes sense.

I just finished my rebuild and everything seems to be working.

For those who need to know how I fixed things:

Stopped the array.

Unassigned the disks that are disabled.

Start the array in maintenance mode.

Stop again.

Reassign same disks to the same slots they had before.

Start again.

Rebuild and wait.

Keep in mind, I believe these drives to be in good working order. If I had smart errors, I would have replaced and rebuild.
