Remote access, which way ?

Featured Replies

I always worry about remote access to my unraid server, since I travel a lot and usually unable to be at home for months.

I know the best way recommended by everyone is to use something like Wiregard, but my work environment won't allow that, so right now I am using a very simple and straight forward way to do it:

  • setup ddns on my router
  • get a HTTPS certificate
  • forward the web UI port on my router
  • using HTTPS URL to access my unraid server

recently I talked to my brother works in IT, he told me I should use nginx or swag to reverse proxy my unraid server and close the remote access port on my unraid server, I'd like know if it's better and how should I do that? not about the reverse proxy part, but the "close remote access part".
