July 21, 200619 yr Hey all, I setup my server and was just messing around and I basically just want to start from scratch and I was wondering if there was an easy way to do this? I want to move a bunch of the HDs around, replace parity, larger drives, and I DONT care about the few gigs of test data that I had on my drives. Thank you, Mike
July 21, 200619 yr I think that you can simply stop the current array, power down, make your changes to disks, etc and then when you power up the config page will notice things have changed and not allow the array to start. Then, simply go to the Tools menu and press the "Reset Array Configuration" button. This will rebuild parity on whatever drives you currently have installed. As it says, the "Reset Array Configuration" will not erase any data drives, it just stores on the flash drive your new configuration and calculates parity. Once the array is back up you can browse the shared data drives and remove anything you did not want to keep. Joe L.
July 24, 200619 yr Author Joe: Just wanted to tell you that this worked perfectly.. the only problem I ran into was when I went to hook up my second p/s, its DOA.. Gotta get an RMA from NewEgg!! Thank you again! -Mike
July 25, 200619 yr teamhood, To avoid finding out that your power supply is DOA after installing it, it is a good idea to get a power supply tester. I have one for 20 pin and one for 24 pin power supplies. They also can check hard drive and aux power cables for the correct voltages. Just a thought. Regards, TCIII
July 26, 200619 yr Author TCIII Can you post a link to one? Would have been very nice to have and it still could be very beneficial! Thank you -Mike
