VMs using more disk space than allocated

Featured Replies

I'm having an issue that I've only recently noticed with my VMs since I've had to restore a Windows VM. I had an issue that caused me to restore my Windows gaming VM from a backup, however I've not been able to get up and running.

I have a 1TB NVME disk, and I had my Windows VM set to use 900G. When I boot into the Windows VM, I have 125GB free of my 900GB total disk. The issue I'm having is that when download steam updates etc, anything really, even just using the system, the free disk space on my NVME drive keeps decreasing to the point that there is nothing left (literally a few kb) and then the VM crashes.

If I reboot the VM, or even unraid itself, the disk space does not come back. I also have the drive set to have a free space of 25GB, and that isn't working.

I've now just noticed that on a VM that I've not had to restore, the same thing is happening. I'm using 60G of my 500GB cache pool, however the available space keeps decreasing and I'm not doing anything else on the server.

I'm not sure what to do here. Is this a bug? Have I set up my VMs incorrectly? I'm using unraid 6.10.3 right now. Please let me know if you need any other info from me to figure this out.

Thanks in advance!
