Filerun - Installation fails consistently

Featured Replies

Hey there,

I tried to get Filerun up and running using this guide. This was not really working, so I tried to get some more information out of the docker compose manual on their site. Without any success. The container keeps stopping and the logs show something, that I should continue with installation in my webbrowser (whats not possible cause the container stops).

Maybe someone did manage to install Filerun 8.1 recently.. I am still waiting for my license key anyway..

That guide is from 2021. There's no App for Filerun in the app store (of course).

I have to ask... What does Filerun do? (Yes, I know, I can go look it up). :)

The dev answered me already, hope it works soon.

The Guide also shows how to deploy it via Dockerhub.

It basically does index your normal shares (the ones you want to use with it) and make them accessible like using nextcloud.

But nextcloud for instance destroys my server and is slow af. Maybe 4 Cores are not enough for Nextcloud :D

My bad. You have to wait for your license file and account, then you get access to the PHP Files needed for the installation.

Btw, its MUUUUUUUCH faster than Nextcloud on my unraid.

Good evening Heimdall-one

I wanted to politely ask if you managed to install this on Unraid? I am aware I have to buy a licence.

If I have this, how can I proceed?
I would be very grateful for some tips or maybe some instructions?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Kind regards

Hey @latino_sky

Yes I managed to install it.

The Docker-based tutorials are still valid. The only thing to consider is that you need to manually download the FileRun application files (from the FileRun client account) and extract them from the zip archive inside where you are mounting the "/var/www/html" container volume, that was my mistake and after I corrected that everything worked out fine.

Hello  @heimdall-one

Thank you very much for your quick response.
I will buy a licence and then I will give it a try.

The Docker is no longer available on Unraid, but I'm sure there is a possibility...??

Otherwise I'm out of luck and have wasted a bit of money. Either way, thank you very much for the quick response. When Filerun was still running without problems (free version), I tested it briefly. Then I uninstalled it again... big mistake :)

I will try it with the existing instructions.
Thanks again

Kind regards

Hello Heimdall-one

I finally got my licence and tried to work according to the instructions you linked.
Somehow I am not able to install the container Filerun.

I have installed MariaDB and I think everything is ok there.
I always get the error that it can't find Filerun locally.
Unfortunately, I'm not a super professional either. so I wanted to ask you politely if you could take a look at what I've done wrong.

It would be really great if you could give me a tip.
have a nice Saturday.

@latino_sky on the repository line you have to update it to:

filerun/filerun:8.1

There isn't a latest tag in the docker repo anymore, that's why it's failing for you.

Edit:

I happened to find this while looking in their documents and it helped me get running.
