Thanks Joe L.  Should I try reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/md5?

root@ensconce:~# reiserfsck --check /dev/md5
reiserfsck 3.6.21 (2009 www.namesys.com)

It seems to  be saying that a prior

reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/md5

did not complete.

I would think that is what is required next.  (rerun the --rebuild-tree)

alright.  So I after patiently waiting for reiserfsck --rebuild-tree to complete for ~31 hours console reports;

The problem has occurred looks like a hardware problem (perhaps memory).  Send us a bug report if the second run dies at the same block number.
build_the_tree: Nothing but leaves are expected.  Block 43702269 - Unknown.

Aborted.

ok.  So that was the drive I replaced.  Once I switched drives and rebuilt the array, the hardware was fixed (new drive) but the disk tree was the same because it was rebuilt to the new disk?  I'm running the --rebuild-tree now.  I'll report back when it finishes.

thanks
