October 14, 201114 yr Are all drives <2 TB standard, IE not AF drives? I just got 2 Hitachi HDS721050CLA362 500 GB Drives. I'm pretty sure they aren't AF drives, but did a quick websearch on specs just to see. I came up with http://www.cresdo.com/product/14977 It shows a sector size of 352 bytes. I thought sector size was either 512 bytes, or 4K. Then I see http://www.hitachigst.com/internal-drives/desktop/deskstar/deskstar-7k1000c More reliable info at Hitachi. It doesn't show a sector size, but has Max areal density (Gbits/sq. in.) of 352. I'm wondering if the first site just had a copy over error. Really was just trying to make sure I cleared the drive correctly.
October 15, 201114 yr Just use the 4k-aligned setting for everything. You can't misalign a non-AF drive at 4k-aligned but you can misalign an AF drive by using the unaligned setting. Peter

Peter Thanks. I was actually told this before and being so long since I precleared drives, completely forgot. I'll make a note for next time and modified the default for unRAID.
