Cache / Parity Suggestions

Hello. I am in the midst of finalizing my UR setup. My HP Z820 is comprised of 4x HGST 8TB drives and 1x Samsung SSD Evo 1TB

 

Would it be feasible for me to use one of the 8TB as a parity drive and the 1TB SSD as the cache drive. Your thoughts and recommendations will be most welcome. Thank you

That would be the normal default way to handle such a combination of drives.

Thanks again @itimpi for responding to my post so quickly. Reall appreciate it. 2 of the 8TB drives are SATA and the remaining 2 8TB drive are SAS. Would it matter which I choose as the parity drive?

Not sure.    In principle you want the fastest drive as parity.   Suspect this would mean one of the SAS drives but you would need to check their specs to be sure.

I will do that. Thanks again. Have a wonderful evening. Peter BTW. I believe that all of these HGST drives are 7200RPM. But, I will double check to be certain.
