April 2, 20242 yr Hello. I am in the midst of finalizing my UR setup. My HP Z820 is comprised of 4x HGST 8TB drives and 1x Samsung SSD Evo 1TB Would it be feasible for me to use one of the 8TB as a parity drive and the 1TB SSD as the cache drive. Reall appreciate it. 2 of the 8TB drives are SATA and the remaining 2 8TB drive are SAS. Would it matter which I choose as the parity drive?

In principle you want the fastest drive as parity. Suspect this would mean one of the SAS drives but you would need to check their specs to be sure.
