Unraid won't start with hard drives plugged in

Featured Replies

I've been running an Unraid box for one to two years with very few issues, recently bought a rack for my basement and had to migrate the server to a new case. Used all the same hardware just a new case. When the drives that are connected through the hba are connected Unraid doesn't start, but if they are not Unraid starts fine. The hba is working fine and all the drives are being seen in the bios. I've disabled everything but the usb drive to boot from in the bios and still the same issue, it just goes to a black screen with the cursor dash in the top left corner. Left it running over night to see if it was taking its time and still nothing. Any Help would be very much appreciated.

What HBA do you have? If it's an LSI you can try deleting the BIOS, since it's not needed.

The problem ended up being the bios. For some reason it had decided to reset itself to default and by default Asus motherboards have virtualization turned off. Thank you for your interest but I'm back up and running again. One last question though, I do have a LSI HBA why is the bios not needed? (sorry I'm a noob).

It's only needed if you are booting of the HBA, and you don't do that with Unraid.
