smakovits Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Can I run WDidle3 /d with all my drive connected or is it better to do one at a time, then boot, verify all systems are go, shutdown, do the next one, etc... With 8 drives one at a time could be a while. I read that all data is preserved during the process so whats the best way to go about this?
gabbott Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I've done multiple drives at a time with no adverse affects.
Johnm Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 i did my entire server in one shot... Just be careful if you have any EARX drives in the pile. I recall seeing a warning about those and wdile3. you might want to look into that and see what it was about if that may be the case
Lantesh Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 When I did mine I did them one at a time as that is what the instructions for the program tell you to do. I figured it was best to it the recommended way.
dikkiedirk Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Is WDIDLE3 /D the best option or is /R300 better? Also, is this setting important when preclearing WD20EARS drives? My assumption is no, because the drive is kept busy and the heads won't be parked.
dikkiedirk Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 I've done multiple drives at a time with no adverse affects. Are you experiencing any problem with those EARS drives? How long do you have them in the unraid server?
