Moving to ESXi box plan - missing anything? 4.7

Want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. So any/all suggestions would be appreciated.

Current Prod box 4.7 - Static IP, 1 MV8 card, 12 Drives

Current ESXi box (norco 4224, X9SCM, Xeon E3-1240) - test unRaid VM using 1 MV8 card

Both MV8s have INT 13h disabled. Will I have to redo for the MV8 I am moving from Prod to ESXi box?

1.  Backup unRaid usb drive

2.  Perform Parity Chick on Prod box

3.  Remove test unRaid VM (will this automatically unassign the MV8 and usb passthrough?)

4.  Take Screen shot of Device Page (prod box)

5.  Shut down Prod unRaid

6.  Remove MV8 from Prod box and put in ESXi (4224) box

7.  Add the 2nd MV8 to VMDirectPath Passthough: Select Server > Configuration > Advanced Settings > Edit

8.  Reboot ESXi

9.  Move HDDs from Prod to ESXi box - using drives connected to the 2 MV8s

10. Move unRaid usb drive from Prod Box to ESXi box

11. Follow rest of Johnm's http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14695.msg138465#msg138465 VM#3 unRAID VMDirectPath Hardware Passthough directions from the VMCreation: step

12. Boot up unRaid

13. Verify static IP is set

14. Install vmware tools

15. Bring up unRaid menu

16. Assign drives

17. Reboot

18. Test. Make sure htpc can play from unRaid VM

Bask in the glow of a job well done.

Should be done.

I have not yet had my coffee today. but that sounds about right.

If you want to cut a few steps, you could "re-task" the test unraid guest by telling it to just use the Production USB instead of the test flash stick.

Then add the second controller to that guest before or after you re-task it. If you do it first, you will know for sure the second card works in the test guest...

once you get it up and running, you might want to take the extra step of making a boot VDMK to speed up the horrid usb1.1 boot time. see http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14695.msg149602#msg149602

plop works, but it is so slow.

Note about step #3. If i recall, you can assign the same hardware to 2 guests, you just cant turn both on at once.

dont forget to add your new unRAID to the Autostart group (with enough of a shutdown time to wake all drives from sleep, then unmount and  bring it down safely)

Also make sure you have the clean shutdown package installed  so that ESXi can shut down your unaid cleanly.
