Best way to Backup Whatsapp data to Unraid

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I have an Unraid server up and running on my home network.

I'm now dealing with some space issue on my iPhone. I'm using PhotoSync to transfer my photo/video to a shared folder.

Now I'm looking for a way to also backup the Whatsapp data on my nas to bypass the iCloud 5GB limitation.

There's a way to do that?

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Simone

Did you end up finding a solution?

I am an android person but use whatsapp... and suffer a google cloud limitation similar to you.

My workflow is complicated to setup at first... seamless once setup.

I run syncthing on my phone. I point syncthing to the dcim folder for pics, and a similar whatsapp folder.

Syncthing copies all data to a share on unraid.

I then use digikam on a quarterly basis to sort through and delete obvious stuff. Then I move the good pics to my photo library.

Once the items are moved or deleted, syncthing will echo these deletions to the phone, which in turn will delete if off the cloud !

I also use immich as a replacement for google photos.

Once I'm confident of this workflow, I will set the phone to STOP backing photos to the cloud.

hope that helps
