[Support] Unknowncall's Docker Templates

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This thread will be used for the support of all of the docker templates that I publish to the CA applications. Please when asking a question, be specific about which docker container you are having trouble with and I will do my best to respond promptly to resolve your problems.

Thanks for putting these up. I assume all of the blacklisting is either not needed or already done. My RPi install broke early this year and I never got back to it. Worked like a charm! [no, see update below]

Using adsb-main of course, and adsb-fr24feed & adsb-flightaware. Can you put up a container for RadarBox too, please? Those are the three I was contributing to last. I'm still not sure about ads-b exchange after they got sold last year.

Update: Actually, I failed to spot that adsb-flightaware is not happy actually. Trying to figure it out. The below keeps repeating (after my last try).

[piaware] 2024/06/08 12:13:24 lost connection to dump1090 via faup1090

[piaware] 2024/06/08 12:13:25 faup1090 exited with SIG SIGHUP

06/08/202412:13:25 PM

[piaware] 2024/06/08 12:13:25 will reconnect to dump1090 in 30 seconds

I have to step away for other commitments now. Will continue later. Seems odd given fr24feed shows aircraft data sent, but not flightwaware.

UPDATE 2, solved I think: Looks like I misinterpreted the "BEASTHOST" container setting. It needed an IP (192.168.x.x), not "Specify an external BEAST protocol provider (dump1090/readsb/etc)." I had readsb input there. Then it would not resolve the host. Rookie mistake. I now see data on flightware

Sure! Give me a few days and I’ll add them.

Glad you got it working, I went ahead and made the template for adsb-radarbox. I'm unsure how long it takes for the CA apps to pull the template. It is working on my machine and I'll keep checking to see when it is there.

  • 7 months later...

radarbox did not show on CA as far as I can find. I tried manually making a container for it but failed. Could you look into your template's CA status?

main, fr24, & FA have been working great!

Edit months later: adsb-radarbox showed on the CA, installed, and working. I had to do the fake RPi serial number workaround per the log's direction. And, the other containers continue to work great. Thanks, Unknowncall!

Hey,

I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the containers.

I'd been running a VM for a while now just for FR24, because the "old" ones never worked reliably and I just stumbled upon your apps.

It was a breeze to set up and is using a lot less resources.

Cheers!

Thanks for this, this made it so much easier to get my ADSB station up and running.

Two questions though, I'm unable to access the local settings page for ADSBExchange (adsbexchange.local). I'm probably dumb here, but is there any reason why I can't get to that? I think it might be because my server is on a different VLAN, but I tested the connection with firefox on the same VLAN and same result.

Also, and this is definitely a case of me not knowing better, but I can't find the container directory for any of the containers. I wanted to see if I could tweak the JSON files for each, because ADSBExchange has the wrong lat/long for my home base on the map, even though I copy pasted the same lat/long from the main container and it appears correctly on FR and FA. Anyway, but I can't see them in the shares directory. Where should I be looking?

For the first question. I am not sure. I am unable to access that on my network as well.

For the lattiude and longitude problem, you can set the variables for the container so that adsb exchange knows your location. The variables are LAT, LONG, and ALT. Altitude has to be followed by m or ft.

So yeah, that's the thing, I set my lat/long and alt variables in the container setup for ADSBExchange, just like I did for the main container, but it's still off by about 20 miles. The other trackers show an accurate center point. Which is why I want to check the JSON file to see what isn't lining up.

There is no JSON file IIRC. The actual docker container that my template is wrapping is mikenye/adsbexchange. All the information can be found if you google that.

So, I do have a problem now... for some reason, my bus/device changes every now and then (bus stays the same, but device changes its number).

Every time that happens, the containers stop transmitting data obviously...

There used to be a way to pass through with /dev/serial/by-id/ but for some reason this folder doesn't exist anymore, there's a whole bunch of threads on the internet about this.

Is there a way I can specify the usb device with something other than bus/device?

Cheers

This happens to me whenever I unplug and replug in the usb or restart my computer. However, I haven't had this problem in a while after restarting. The USB has been assigned the same bus and device number every time.

If you want to solve your issue, you can try setting something up like udev systemlink. I was unable to get it working, but maybe you can.

For some reason this seems to be happening randomly, without a computer reboot or replug... I'll have to look into this...

Hello, I just installed StoryScan and saw that the field "WebUI" isn't set, it should be set to "http://[IP]:[PORT:3455]".

For the StoryScan template, WebUI is empty and Unraid does not appear for the container. After ticking ONthe Advanced switch, I added http://[IP]:[PORT:3000]/ and made it work. [LOL, just noticed luzankia post similar]

Yeah, I changed the "File Path" host path to my share but it can't see any files and generate whatever it does... Am I the only one?

EDIT log reads:

[API /api/scan] Cannot read directory /media-server: Error: EACCES: permission denied, scandir '/media-server'

Edited by Krakout

I gave it a very large parent folder and it took a very long time to scan. I came back to the webui once in a while then forgot about it. Much later now, I see that it worked. Pretty neat display.

Regarding file path, I did not get the error your log shows. I left SCAN_DIRECTORIES set to /media-server as the template defaulted.  File Path container path is still /media-server and I pointed that to /mnt/user/data/media/

Here's my run command for comparison

docker run
  -d
  --name='StoryScan'
  --net='bridge'
  --pids-limit 2048
  -e TZ="America/Los_Angeles"
  -e HOST_OS="Unraid"

  -e 'TREEMAP_MODERATE_THRESHOLD'='15000'

First of all, thanks for the reply!

Well it's not different than mine, my host path is of course another one but in essence it's the same config...

docker run
  -d
  --name='StoryScan'
  --net='bridge'
  --pids-limit 2048
  -e TZ="Europe/Athens"
  -e HOST_OS="Unraid"
  -e HOST_HOSTNAME="CPC6128"
  -e HOST_CONTAINERNAME="StoryScan"
  -e 'SCAN_DIRECTORIES'='/media-server'
  -e 'TREEMAP_MAX_NODES'='20000'
  -e 'TREEMAP_MAX_DEPTH'='5'
  -e 'TREEMAP_LIGHT_THRESHOLD'='5000'
  -e 'TREEMAP_MODERATE_THRESHOLD'='15000'
  -e 'TREEMAP_AGGRESSIVE_THRESHOLD'='50000'
  -l net.unraid.docker.managed=dockerman
  -l net.unraid.docker.webui='http://[IP]:3455'
  -p '3455:3000/tcp'
  -v '/mnt/user/Public/':'/media-server':'rw' 'ghcr.io/unknowncall/storyscan:latest'

The only difference I see is the rw I have instead of ro, but would that make a difference? I'll try.

EDIT: switched it to read-only, now I get in the log:

[API /api/scan] Cannot read directory /media-server: Error: EACCES: permission denied, scandir '/media-server'

EDIT2: hm, I went up one level (/mnt/user) with ro, and now it's started scanning... I'll see what happens when it reaches my Public dir.

EDIT 3: yup, it's not reading the specific dir. No idea why though - it works perfectly with other containers...

Edited by Krakout

Ohkayyyy so for some reason my Public path had the wrong permissions? I'm sure I've ran "new permissions" to fix everything, but Public was set to drwxrwx--- . So yeah, it couldn't access it. It's fine now...

Glad you like the visualization. I just pushed another update in hope to make the thresholds for the files to display a little better. Most users will not notice this change.

I filled in the File Path and Scan Directories to point to /mnt/user because I want an analysis of all my shares. However Storyscan gives me "Failed to scan directory. Please check if the path is accessible."

I've set my Path variable correctly so I'm not sure why it's having trouble accessing the folders.

I've tried setting permissions and ownership on my /mnt/user/subfolders but still getting the same error. Can anyone advise on the File Path and SCAN_DIRECTORIES entries in the docker config?
