July 13, 20241 yr For the better part of a year, I've had the same hardware setup. My Windows 11 desktop is in my home office connected via ethernet. My unraid server (6.12.10) is in our pantry connected via ethernet. The unraid server has no VPN running on it as I do any downloading with my desktop and transfer the files over to the server. I use Surfshark on my desktop when downloading and up until recently, I've had no issues transferring files whether or not the VPN was turned on. But for at least a few weeks, if the VPN is on, I can't connect to the unraid server at all. I have the server mapped as a network drive and use TeraCopy as my file manager. I've tried putting the server's ip in the Bypass section of the VPN, but no luck. I do assume that this is an issue within Windows and not specific to unraid, but I'm hoping someone else has run into this issue and has a fix. Edit: Just in case someone else runs into this I found a solution. With a bunch of hunting around I found a post saying to use the IP address instead of the server's name when mapping the network drive in Windows. All seems to be working fine now. Still unsure what exactly changed, probably something with Surfshark/Wireguard, but at least it works properly again. Edited July 18, 20241 yr by bitzie Found solution
