January 22, 201214 yr I have 4 Samsung 1TB drives that I want to add to my unRAID server. The instructions for running preclear all state "If you are preclearing any AF drives, be sure to use the -A option" I've done some searching, and it's unclear to me how I know if the drives are AF drives, but it seems to be clear that if I do this incorrectly, I will suffer from slower than best-case speed on the drives. So, how can I be sure if I need to use the -A option, so I get it right the first time? Also, how can I be sure I did it correctly on the drives I'm already using? Current drives are (4) 3TB Hitachi drives /dev/sde Hitachi_HDS5C3030ALA630_MJ1323YNG1SUPC /dev/sdf Hitachi_HDS5C3030ALA630_MJ1323YNG1UB8C /dev/sdh Hitachi_HDS5C3030ALA630_MJ1323YNG1U3PC /dev/sdi Hitachi_HDS5C3030ALA630_MJ1323YNG1TLWC New drives are (4) 1TB Samsung drives /dev/sda SAMSUNG_HD102UJ_S1ZUJDWS308586 25°C 1.00T /dev/sdb SAMSUNG_HD103UJ_S13PJDWS346374 22°C 1.00T /dev/sdc SAMSUNG_HD102UJ_S1ZUJDWS308596 24°C 1.00T /dev/sdd SAMSUNG_HD103UJ_S13PJDWS337885 24°C 1.00T and an IDE drive, that I'm considering using for the cache drive (bad idea, considering it's IDE?) /dev/hda Maxtor_6L200P0_L40CF2NH 32°C 203.93G I'm running 5b13
