Seagate Exos ST24000NM000C - good deal/drive?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just finished building my first server and have decided to swap out all my old and mixed drives.

I am considering purchasing Seagate Exos ST24000NM000C 24TB 7.2K RPM SATA 6Gb/s 512n 3.5in Recertified Hard Drive from serverpartdeals and importing them into the UK.

Has anyone used these drives or have any advice worth sharing?

After vat ect they will work out approx £300 each which seems like good value compared to me shucking some more 20TB WD Elements Desktop Drives.

These will all (up to 8) be going in my Jonsbo N3, I have about 120TB of existing data to consolidate.

Thanks for any help and input.

What does it work out to on a $/TB basis, final cost (obviously, switch out dollars for pounds or euros as appropriate)? How does that compare to your other options?

Personally, I quit shucking drives several years ago and buy mostly serverpartsdeals refurb drives now. It usually works out that I can buy 3 drives from SPD for less than the price of 2 new drives - usually. I still buy at the size that gives me the best $/TB - so it has varied between 14TB, 18TB and 20TB.
