IP Change

Featured Replies

I guess this is the best place to ask. Okay backstory, I have been having issues with the wireless access point on my router, where the wifi would just drop out for 5-10 minutes. I threw up a cheapo TPLink WAP, that was the fast fix. Well it started having issues with buffering video streams on hardwire devices. So I called Google Fiber, and they sent out a tech to replace the router.

The swap was fast, however doing this has changed my iP Address pool, while it's not too big of a deal for everything thats running DHCP, but my unraid server had a static IP set and all the VM's on the servers had their own static IP's as well. I can log into the nest pro wifi's and change the IP pool back to what it was. However, doing that will go back to the 192.168.1 pool. While this pool isn't that much better, it's a little better with the third octet is no longer 1. I am no network engineer, so I don't want to get too crazy, but I would like to know if I can change the ip address via the terminal, or do I need a shutdown command, to then pull the USB Thumbdrive and change the files stored upon it?

I am thinking about switching to unify in the future, so I guess it's a good thing this is happening now and not later I guess

There have two easy way.

1. temporary change the client PC IP ( static ) to original IP subnet to access Unraid again, no need setting DNS or gateway. Then access the web GUI and change the IP which you like.

2. Shutdown Unraid by press power buttom once, then insert the USB to PC and edit /config/network.cfg.

Thank You Vr2lo. I actually completed process one before you posted. I didn't know if shutting the server down by the power button would have any adverse effects. Honestly it was super easy to do the first process anyways, I think it was faster too as my unraid server is kind of a PITA to get to for service.
