Parity Disk and Disk 2 in Error State (disk dsbl)

Featured Replies

Hi, I started copying a large (120 GB) folder from MacOS FInder to a backup share yesterday before going to sleep. I woke up this morning to multiple warnings and alerts in Unraid.

Specifically, both Parity 2 and Disk 2 were in error state. (I have a 10 disk array plus two parity drives, or 12 physical drives in total). I noticed on the Dashboard that the first four cores of the server CPU were stuck at 100%. I tried running a SMART short self-test on both drives, but could not get it to run at all. I tried stopping the array, and it took a very long time to unmount the disks (somewhere around 30 minutes or so). When the disks finally unmounted, I shut down the system and subsequently restarted it in order to run the SMART tests. Unfortunately, I did not think to capture the diagnostics before rebooting the server :(

The SMART short test runs without errors on both of the disabled disks. I'm attaching a diagnostics run completed after reboot, even though it might not be helpful. What steps should I follow to get the server back in a healthy state? Thanks!

Most likely a power/connection issue, post new diags with the array started to see if the emulated disk is mounting.

Disk2 is mounting, assuming contents look correct you can rebuild on top, if it happens again save the diags before rebooting.

Sounds good! This is the first time I've had both a data disk and a parity disk fail at the same time... Just to be safe, what are the steps I should follow in the UI to get the array back to full health?

Sorry I should have been more specific. What isn't clear is, can I rebuild both the parity drive and the data drive at the same time? Or do I need to rebuild the parity drive first, and then follow the same process with the data drive? Or vice versa? Thanks again.

You can do both at the same time.

Perfect, thank you Jorge!!
