February 2, 201214 yr Hi unRaiders I'm planning to move away from my Norco 4224 monster to a smaller 6-drive mini-itx case (Wife domination *sigh*). Therefore I have a few questions. I would have loved to get both boxes up and running and just copy data over the LAN, but unfortunately I need to reuse some spare parts (e.g. CPU) in the new box, so that is a no-go. 1) What is the correct way of "decomission" the disks i don't want to use in the new case? What's the correct way of emptying them so I can safely remove them from the array, and not having unraid complaining when starting up without them? 2) What should I be aware of when moving on to the new motherboard? Can I put the "surviving" disks in a random order, and they will still work with unraid, or do they have to be added in a specific way? Will it figure out the parity disk itself? 3) Besides that - should it just work if I move my USB drive to the new hardware? Any input appreciated, so I don't end up with dataloss during this tricky migration - thanks!
February 3, 201214 yr Move the data that your keeping on to 5 data drives that will be used in the new box. Move those five drives and parity to the new box and rebuild parity.
