Setting up cloudflare with unraid server

Featured Replies

so i bought a domain from cloudflare and im trying to set it up on the server, in hopes that it will protect it better as ive had alot of ip addresses attempting to access it recently, i set the domain up in cloudflare and as far as i know i did everything right, and i set the ssl certificate up in unraid and it recognizes it, the problem is its been 4 days and unraid says the dns propagation is pending still. i set the record for the domain as A and i dont really know what else to do to get this working, if anyone needs more info or has any advice i would really appreciate it!

I don't know what you're doing with the domain, nor whether you've exposed Unraid itself to the internet (insanely bad idea), but foreign IPs knocking at your door 24/7 is normal for every internet connection. I've got dozens of connection attempts coming in every minute of every day. All blocked by my firewall of course - which in this respect is what even a $10 consumer router does.

Set up a firewall/router like pfSense. Set up Netbird or Tailscale for VPN mesh and use a reverse proxy like NGINX Proxy Manager or Traefik to give everything (you want) on your LAN their own FQDN and TLS connectivity. Keep the firewall blocking all external traffic.

i dont think ive exposed it, i have 443, 80, and 51820 exposed for the server on the router, i have xfinity and i get a notification everyday saying a known malicious ip is attempting to access my device, i will look into all of what you suggested

You should not normally be exposing 80 and 443 to the internet as these are used for the Unraid GUI and it is not hardened against attack.

im basically making the container Homarr the main domain and having my other containers be subdomains, im trying to setup a cloudflare tunnel to the container with the port and i just keep getting bad gateway and it seems like unraid is blocking it even though i have everything set inside unraid to allow it to connect, i watched a guy on youtube do it in like 5 steps no problem but for some reason mine just doesnt want to, i can post logs and the web page if that would help anyone
