B_ISC Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 I use a large/random password for root that I don't want to type in the local server console. Is there a way to for the local server console to be automatically logged in? (I'm not worried about local physical security.) Quote
Frank1940 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Use a password manager (PM). It could the one in your browser (Believe Edge, Firefox and Chrome all have one in them) or a third party one with a Browser extension/plugin for that PM. Quote
B_ISC Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 You misunderstood, automatic logon for the local server console, not remotely/web interface. Quote
Frank1940 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 OK, Now I get it. Sorry but I know this is a Linux (and Unix) point of security. There will never again be a entry (or backdoor) point deliberately put in that allows for so easy an access to a Linux machine with root privileges. Quote
B_ISC Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 I understand the user/password requirement, have you seen anything that would automatically log the console in? Quote
